[www.inewsguyana.com] – A Police Constable attached to the Narcotics Branch of the Police Force was remanded to prison for conspiring with persons to traffic cocaine out of Guyana.
Norrell Hyman pleaded not guilty to the charge, when he made his appearance before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on Friday, April 24.
The allegation states that on April 17 at East Bank Demerara, he conspired with persons unknown to traffic narcotics. According to the prosecution, Hyman was in the car that transported accused drug trafficker, Arthur Manget and allegedly took a photograph of him in effort to allow him through the security check point.
Bail was refused and the matter was adjourned to April 27. Sixty-eight-year old Arthur Manget was remanded to prison on April 16 last, on a drug trafficking charge. Manget of Lot 122 Old Road, Land of Canaan, East Bank Demerara, made his appearance before the Chief Magistrate and pleaded not guilty to the charge.
Particulars of charge said that on April 13 at the Cheddi Jagan International Airport (CJIA), Timehri, he had in his possession 9.670 Kilogrammes of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking. His matter was transferred before Magistrate Fabayo Azore, for April 30.
