[www.inewsguyana.com] – People’s National Congress Reform Member, Vanessa Kissoon was last evening (Tuesday, March 24) reportedly detained by Police in Linden for allegedly disrupting a public meeting by the People’s Progressive Party/Civic.

According to reports, Kissoon attended the meeting at Blueberry Hill and reportedly heckled the speakers, which included Junior Finance Minister, Bishop Juan Edghill but after she was ignored, Kissoon reportedly intimidated attendees at the meeting and allegedly issued threats to those present.

iNews understands that a few weeks ago, Kissoon attempted to mount the stage of an event where Edghill was speaking.

Meanwhile, the National Communications Network (NCN) has issued a statement, condemning the recent attack on two of its employees, by leading members of A Partnership for National Unity/Alliance for Change (APNU/AFC), during one of their public meetings on Sunday March 22, at Station Street Kitty, Georgetown.

According to the state owned NCN, “during that meeting, executive member of the opposition coalition Freddie Kissoon, joined with other known provocateurs of the APNU/AFC intimidate, harass and abuse our employees in the course of their duties, forcing them to flee.”

The Company noted this is latest in the series of attacks on NCN, which is contributing to growing fears among its employees, “who are meted with unjustifiable aggression in the execution of their mandate.”

“Traditionally, NCN has provided coverage to public meetings of the contesting political parties in General and Regional Elections in Guyana. The NCN is of the view that the intimidation, harassment and abuse of our employees by APNU/AFC officials, is not only an attack on press freedom, but also part of a wider scheme, to cripple the company as is evident by their repeated non-support to budgetary allocations to NCN and constant bashing and vilification of the company and its employees.”

The Management is calling on the Guyana Elections Commission, the Guyana Press Association and the Police to take measures to safeguard and protection the safety and well-being of its employees.

  1. The cohesiveness of PNC is clear for all to see in this instance where the Kucie/Kissoon faction of the PNC was threatened at gunpoint by Granger’s supporters at the rigged re-eliection of Granger and yet here we see Kissoon risking jail time to canvass for GRANGER FOR PRESIDENT.
PPP simply does not have this same commitment in Ramjattan, Nagamootoo and Ramkarran!
    NAMAK HARAM!
