Pepsi Hornets starts strong in Seven’s League

[www.inewsguyana.com] – After day one of the Wind Jammer/Golden Brook Seven’s rugby league on Saturday at the National Park Rugby field, the Pepsi Hornets have shot to number on the points table.

The Hornets played two games, dismantling the Guyana Defence Force (GDF) 22-nil while easing by Yamaha Caribs 12-7.

Jason Tyrell and trot Bascombe were the two players scoring tries for Hornets in the win against the Caribs while captain Ryan Gonsalves scored conversions to win the low scoring game.

 Captain of Caribs Theodore Henry was the lone scorer and converter for the Caribs in the loss.

Blaise Bailey was hot in the second game for the Hornets scoring three tries while Gonsalves added a try of his own. Chris Singh scored Hornets lone conversion.

Meanwhile the University of Guyana Wolves trashed GDF who 31-5 but lost top Caribs 7-29. GDF was able to muster a win against the Guyana Police Force with a 20-5 win to end the day’s proceedings.

The league will continue on Saturday at the said ground.
