Over 660 pounds of cannabis destroyed in operation- Police


A team of Police officers on Thursday conducted a drug eradication operation when they went to Coomacka Mines, Upper Demerara River around 11:30h.

According to information received from the police, an acre of marijuana cultivation with about 1,500 cannabis plants measuring 2-6 feet in height, with an estimated weight of about 300 kilograms, a nursery with about 300 seedlings, a make-shift camp with three hammocks, kitchen utensils,clothing, groceries and 15 kilograms of dried cannabis were found and destroyed by fire.

No arrests were made as investigations are ongoing.
