Opposition Party gets first hand look at Ogle Airport

apnu pictures 062Leader of the Opposition Brigadier David Granger along with Shadow Cabinet Ministers from A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) yesterday got an opportunity to tour the operations of the Ogle International Airport (OIA) and have discussions with management and various stake holders associated with that facility.

The APNU team was briefed on all aspects of operations at Ogle, and the three phase development plan for further upgrading the Airport and its facilities. OIA Chairman Mr. Michael Corria Jr. Mr. Malcolm Chan-a- Sue, Executive Director of the Aircraft Owners Association of Guyana (AOAG), Mr. Christopher “Kit” Nascimento and Anthony Mekdeci, Chief Executive Officer OIA and several other officials and operators at Ogle, took the opportunity to explain to APNU the many challenges that are currently facing the Civil Aviation Sector in Guyana.

Problems associated with poor maintenance of hinterland aerodromes, security, flight inspections, regulatory and other important aviation deficiencies were among several of the topics that were discussed.

The OIA group also shared with APNU a detailed three year development plan for hinterland aerodromes and supporting facilities.

Brigadier Granger thanked the OIA team for what he called a very informative and detailed brief. The two sides have promised to have more discussion in the coming days.
