One shot as armed bandits rob WBD business, salesman

A family grocery business located at West Minister, on the West Bank of Demerara (WBD) was earlier on Tuesday robbed by five bandits (three at the scene of the crime and two accomplices).
Based on information received from the Police, one of the victims was shot in the ordeal and is currently being treated at a medical facility, his condition is listed as stable.
Moreover, the same bandits reportedly robbed a driver/salesman of his valuables and his vehicle which was used by the said bandits to flee the area.
According to the police, investigations revealed that about 09:30hrs, a forty-eight-year-old businessman was in his grocery shop along with his wife, which is situated in front of their premises, when they were pounced upon by three armed men.
The bandits escorted the victims into the lower flat of their house where they also held the victims two adult sons, before ransacking the house and leaving with an undisclosed amount of cash and valuables including cellphones and jewellery.
Shortly after the bandits departed, the grocer and his sons pursued them, during which encounter, the bandits discharged several rounds, one of which struck the twenty-year-old son, forcing them to abandon their chase.
Police have also revealed that the three bandits, while fleeing, were joined by two other armed accomplices.
They stopped a motorcar driven by a salesman, relived him of his cash, cellular phones and his vehicle and fled the scene.
The vehicle was recovered in the said Village abandoned.
Crime Scene Investigators have retrieved several latent prints and seven spent shells from the crime scenes as investigations are ongoing.
