[www.inewsguyana.com] – Regional Chairman of Region 10, Sharma Solomon says that failure to unite as a people will have dangerous repercussions for Guyanese.

Sharma was at the time delivering opening remarks at the A Partnership For National Unity/Alliance For Change (APNU+AFC) first event to officially mark the launch of the rallying season leading up to general elections.

The Linden to Georgetown Minibus park was flooded with green and yellow as persons flocked the streets and the tarmac hoping to hear the message brought to them by the leadership of the coalition.

According to the Regional Chairman, for too long Guyana has been struck by division and it is time to move forward. He said that presently, the “thing” that the ruling People’s Progressive Party (PPP) fears the most would be a unification of the people.

As such, he noted that it is “imperative” that the current efforts at unity are not derailed.

“We face dire consequences should we fail to unite as a people,” said the Region Ten Chairman. He told the energetic crowd that any obstacle in the way of unity will be conquered by sheer will.

“Those in government are trembling because of your power,” he noted reminding the crowd that they have the power to change government come May 11.

Meanwhile, AFC Executive Member Cathy Hughes told the crowd that they should not be fooled by any propaganda. “I want you to stay focused, I want you to stay mature.”

She warned that the ruling party will try to put off the elections, but the electorate must ensure they guard against such.
