“Don’t allow the pressures of life, of your peers, the pressure to fit in, lead you into any bad practices, but rather use them as stepping stones to grow, improve and inspire those that come behind you” were the words of advice from Director of Youth in the Ministry of Education, Department of Culture Youth and Sport, Melissa Carmichael to scores of Secondary School children at the launching of  ‘Express Guyana’ a Non Governmental Organizations (NGO) at the Nation Cultural Center on Wednesday.

The program took the form of a number of cultural and psychosocial presentations aimed at educating children on how to overcome challenges such as suicide by finding practical solutions.

Students used the opportunity to interface with other NGO’s and counseling agencies which shared flyers and posters on ways to deal with some social problems.

‘Express Guyana’ is seeking to bring awareness to social issues affecting children through art.
