[www.inewsguyana.com] – A Nepalese man was ordered to post a $30,000 fine or face one month in jail by Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry today (January 12), after he admitted to entering Guyana illegally.

Twenty seven-year-old Keshab Prashad Bastola of Nepal pleaded guilty to the charge which stated that on January 7 at Springlands Corentyne, he entered Guyana by sea and disembarked without the consent of an Immigration Officer.

Given the opportunity to speak, Bastola told the Court that he came to Guyana from Suriname for a vacation but when he arrived, he hadn’t seen any Immigration Officer.

Police Prosecutor, Michael Grant said that Nepal disembarked at the back track area but Immigration Officers are stationed at the Ferry Stelling at Moleson Creek.
