[www.inewsguyana.com] – A mobile pump has been installed at the Peter’s Hall koker on the East Bank of Demerara and will remain in place until the breached koker door is fixed.

The construction of the door for which material has already been acquired will commence today, Friday, October 10. Head of the National Drainage and Irrigation Authority (NDIA), Lionel Wordsworth told the Government Information Agency that work has been ongoing since the report of the breach at the koker was received at 18:00hrs on Wednesday.

He stated that stop logs were put in place, but the damaged koker door had to be removed first since this was preventing the installation of the logs. The stop logs would serve as a temporary measure to prevent any further inflow of water from the damaged koker.
