National Sport Commission sponsors weekend Cycling

[www.inewsguyana.com] – The National Sport Commission will this weekend run off several cycling programs in order to keep the athletes in check.

Neil KumarDubbing it the Commission’s Annual Mashramani cycle race, it will see the cream of the crop heading to the national park for their 11 race program which begins tomorrow at 09:00hrs.

Among the day’s events include the feature 35-lap race school boys and invitational race which attracts some of the best junior and senior riders from across the country.

The defending champion of this event is Alanzo Greaves who returned a time of one hour 28 minutes 15 seconds in winning.

The other events for the day include the BMX categories as well as the Mountain Bikes and Uprights along with the Junior and Juveniles category.

Meanwhile on Sunday, there will be a 40-mile race which will begin at 08:00hrs from the Demerara Harbor Bridge entrance on the West Bank of Demerara

The riders will then move to Bushy Park, before returning to the place of origin for the finish.

The overall defending champion is Warren McKay with a time last year of one hour 40 minutes 36 seconds while Junior Niles is the defending veteran champion, while Naiomi Singh the Defending female.
