Clerk of the National Assembly Sherlock Isaacs has tested negative for Covid-19.

The announcement was made today by Speaker of the House, Manzoor Nadir, who has tested positive for the virus.

The House Speaker and the National Assembly Clerk decided to conduct COVID-19 tests after they were exposed to opposition parliamentarians Chris Jones and Sherod Duncan who had physically attended the opening of the 12th Parliament last week even though they were infected with the virus.

The duo was tested on Monday and received their test results on Tuesday evening.

As a result of his positive status, the House Speaker is currently presiding over today’s parliamentary session virtually.

The National Emergency Budget 2020 is slated to be presented today.
