Motorcyclist killed on WBD road after colliding with pedestrian

A motorcyclist was pronounced dead on arrival at the West Demerara Regional Hospital (WDRH) after he reportedly collided with a pedestrian on the Belle West Public Road, West Bank Demerara (WBD) on Tuesday night.

Dead is 54-year-old, Oswald Dey of Good Intent, West Bank Demerara (WBD).

INews understands that Dey was heading north on the western side of the road at around 21:00h when he collided with 35-year-old Dyanand Singh of  Stanleytown, WBD  who was proceeding in the same direction.

Singh was struck from behind and reportedly fell unto the surface of the road, while Dey was thrown from his motorcycle, hitting his head in the process.

He was promptly picked up by a police vehicle and taken to the hospital where he succumbed to injuries sustained.

Singh who was also rushed to the hospital reportedly suffered injuries to his right foot as well as his head but was in a stable condition.

He was released on Wednesday morning at around 09:00h.

Investigations are ongoing.
