A Leguan woman was placed on $35,000 bail after she appeared before Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court charged for narcotics possession.

courtAshmini Persaud, 20, a mother of two, of Doorn Haag, Leguan, Region Three (Essequibo Islands-West Demerara) stood before the court to answer to the charge which alleged that on February 21, a Police search was conducted at her residence and it was discovered that she had cultivated the prohibited plant.

It was also alleged that on the same day and location, Persaud had in her possession 2 grams of cannabis. She pleaded not guilty to both charges and her attorney requested the court to be lenient with his client, while relating her severe medical condition.
