Mother charged for forging Birth Certificates

[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 36 – year – old housewife was today fined $150,000 by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry for forging birth certificates in favour of herself, husband and children.

Seeta Persaud of Belvidere, Corentyne Berbice, pleaded guilty to all six charges of forgery. The first stated that on June 23 at Central Immigration Passport Office, Georgetown, with intent defraud she uttered to Orin Harris, an immigration officer five forged birth certificates in favour of herself, husband and three children, purporting to show that same was genuine and issued at the Registrar General Office.

The unrepresented women continuously explained that she realized what she did was wrong and apologized for her mistakes.

She was given one month to pay the fine with an alternative of six months imprisonment.
