More than 200 new recruits join Police Force – to undergo an intense period of training

The Guyana Police Force, today, inducted in excess of two hundred new recruits as part of its drive to bolster the amount of its ranks in seeking to reinforce its mission statement which states “The mission of the Guyana Police Force and its Auxiliaries is to serve all citizens and communities of Guyana in a professional, pro-active and accountable manner. To achieve this we will work in partnership with communities, public agencies and private bodies to enhance and support an environment where all people are preventing crime and building a safer and secure Guyana.”

The ranks were recruited from across Guyana and will undergo an intense period of training which will encompass all aspects of theoretical policing along with stringent physical evaluations and is expected to last approximately four months.

Training will take place at the Felix Austin Police College at Eve Leary, Georgetown; Richard Faikall Training school, Essequibo and Felix Austin Police College (Berbice) where recruits from various Regions will be placed in foreign environments in an effort to acclimatize them with the different aspects of policing diverse communities across Guyana.
Recruitment will continue throughout the year, the Police Force said in a statement.
