Miss Guyana crowned PJD2 Queen

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Miss Guyana Alicia N. Bess was crowned the new PJD2 Carnival Queen in St Maarten in the early hours of today, April 28, 2014, defeating a field of 17 other contestants in the process.

Ms St Maarten and Ms Antigua copped the first and second runner up positions respectively in this year’s pageant which was held under the theme “Confidence Beauty and Respect”.

Contestants competed in Introductory Dance, Swimwear, Cultural Costume, Talent, Evening Wear and Question and Answer segments.

Several persons complained about the length of the pageant which went on for over 7 hours and ended sometime after 2AM and felt the guest performances should have been shortened.

The Miss PJD2 Caribbean Queen Pageant has been hosted by PJD2 Radio Station for the past nineteen years and is held as part of St. Maarten’s 2014 carnival celebrations.

The other countries represented were Anguilla, Aruba, Curacoa, Belize, Dominica, Guyana, Haiti, Jamaica, Nevis, Suriname, Tortola, BVI, Venezuela, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico and Montserrat. [Information extracted from St Lucia News Online and Virgin Islands News Online]
