[www.inewsguyana.com] – A route 48 Minibus Conductor, Keon Wilson of Lot 1065 Public Park, Sophia Georgetown is accused of assaulting an on-duty Police Officer in a public a place.

He appeared before Chief Magistrate, Ann McLennan on Tuesday, October 20, 2015 at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court, where he was placed on $10,000 for the offense.

It is alleged that on October 17, 2015 at Croal Street, Georgetown, Wilson assaulted Police Officer, Keifer Henry, who was executing his duties at the time.

It is also alleged that on that same day, at the same location, Wilson behaved disorderly and resisted arrest.

Another charge also alleged that on October 17, he unlawfully and maliciously damaged one Uniform pants valued $3,500, the property of the Guyana Police Force, belonging to Keifer Henry.

He pleaded not guilty to all charges. His lawyer explained to the court that Wilson has no prior offenses and is the father of a 3 month old child.

The Attorney further noted that his client acted in self-defense on the day in question and that his actions were not intentional.

However, the Prosecution who had no objection to substantial bail, explained that the virtual complainant was on traffic duty when he observed Wilson committing an offence.

Wilson, who was cautioned, allegedly behaved disorderly towards Officer Henry when he tried to arrest him which then led to a scuffle between the two.

Bail was granted and he will make his next court appearance on November 13.
