Miners remanded for murder of 17 – year – old

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Four men were today remanded to prison by Magistrate Fabayo Azore for the murder of 17 – year – old Gold Miner, Azad Potter.

Twenty – eight – year old Delroy Williams, 26 – year – old Leroy Williams, both of Soesdyke Backdam Road; Quincy King and Uma Kant were not required to plead to the indictable charge, which alleged that on Tuesday, October 21 at Konawaruk River, Backdam, in the Essequibo Magisterial District, they murdered Potter of Garden of Eden.

Police Prosecutor, Kerry Bostwick told the Court that the four men along with Potter worked at the same camp in the interior and on the day in question, they accused Potter of stealing a cellular phone, an iPod, three ounces of gold and cash.

It is alleged that they beat Potter and took him to a location where the stolen items were found.

Kant was represented by Attorney –at – Law, Mr. Hookumchand, King was represented by Adrian Thompson and the Williams brothers were represented by Dexter Todd.

They were remanded to prison and are scheduled to reappear at the Mahdia Magistrate’s Court on January 12, 2015.

So sad that he was beaten to death, you don’t go in the bush and steal people gold and others thing, he is 17what he is doing in the bush, he should have been learning some trade, you see we had national service and the new government scrap all those things, that’s why there is so much youths on the street stealing and committing robbery .

  2. slap on de wrist and done with it..people like potter with dat kind of hair dont belong in de bush according to people like those that are charged.
