Miner remanded to prison for alleged murder of Brazilian national

IMG-20131121-05985[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 37- year – old miner was remanded to prison by Magistrate Judy Latchman for the offense of murder. Robert Paul was not required to plead to the offence which alleged that on November 20 at 111 Miles Potaro Mahdia, he murdered Venderlier Kienen during a robbery which included $17M in cash.

Police Prosecutor, Renetta Bentham told the court that the Virtual Complainant (VC) is a businessman who buys and sells gold and was involved in the business of money transfer.

The court heard that on the day in question at around 18:45 hrs the accused and two others barged into the deceased home, where they attack and dealt him several stabs about his body.

The matter was reported and the victim was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Attorney- at – Law Mr. James Bond represented the accused and told the court that his client only confessed to the murder, because he was threatened that he would be shocked.

Bond also stated that the accused claimed of signing once and later saw four signatures, some of which does not match his.

Bond said that his client is an owner of a mining operation and was not hiding since he was found only a few minutes away from his camp. However, the matter stands adjourned before the Chief magistrate.
