Miner granted bail for shooting employee

[www.inewsguyana.com] – A miner of Lot 70 Anaira Street, Queenstown, Georgetown, was placed on $400,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry for the offences of discharging a loaded firearm and wounding.

Godfrey Lambert was not required to plead to the charges, which alleged that on June 16 at Wallabaca Backdam, North West District, with intent to commit murder, he unlawfully and maliciously wounded his employee, Quincy Abrams of Friendship, East Bank Demerara.

The other charge stated that on the same day, he discharged a loaded firearm at Abraham. Lambert was represented by Attorney-at-law, Nigel Hughes.

The defendant was ordered to report every fortnight to the officer in charge at the Port Kaituma Police station, commencing on July 03. He was granted $200,000 bail on each of the charge and matter was transferred to the Port Kaituma Magistrate’s Court for June 29.

The details surrounding the shooting were not released in Court by the Police Prosecutor. iNews however understands that Abrams received a single gunshot wound to the middle of his back.
