Miner busted with 902 grams of ganja in speaker boxes

A 35-year-old miner is presently in police custody awaiting charges after a quantity of cannabis was reportedly discovered in his possession on Wednesday in a boat on the Mazaruni River.

This is according to Police “F” Division Commander, Rabindranauth Budhram on Thursday.

Based on information received, at around 11:00hrs, ranks from the “F” Division, Bartica, while on river patrol came across a metal boat carrying goods.

After a search was conducted, two Phillips speaker boxes were found containing 902 grams of marijuana leaves, seeds an stems.

Dorwin Grant, of lot 44 Pike Street, Kitty, Georgetown and Byderbao, Bartica was arrested.

Investigations are ongoing.
