Millington wins Furniture World/First Impressions 60-mile Road Race



Cycling[] – Ray Millington tore up the roadways to claim the top prize in the Furniture World/First Impressions 60-mile Road Race on Sunday, May 04.

The event saw Millington beat off the challenge of Flying Ace Cycle Club team mate Kurt La Rose and Carlton Wheelers Thuran Harris.

Millington, who starred in a breakaway with the other two held his nerve for a win with four minutes to spare. The event commenced in front of Furniture World at Main and King Streets in New Amsterdam before it moved to Number 43 Village on the Corentyne.

It concluded in New Amsterdam at Main and Alexander Streets. The other riders in the top six included Elijah Brijadder, Wasim Hassnu, Audrel Ross, Jamal Jarvis and Syborne Fernandez respectively.

Maricia Dick dominated the female category which saw a pack of females ride from Number 37 Village to the finish line, a 25 miles distance.

Of the 8 sprint point prizes, La Rose and Millington each took three while Harris had two. The winners received monetary awards.
