Mechanic, miner accused of stealing $8.45M in Hydraulic Pump, other items

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Two men charged with simple larceny were each placed on $250,000 bail by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.

DSC06096Juan Samuel, 33, a mechanic of Linden and Michael Edmondson, 27, a miner both pleaded not guilty to the charge that said on Tuesday, January 28 in the interior of the Essequibo Magisterial District, they stole one Hydraulic Pump among other items together valued $8.45M, property of Axel Marcel.

Police Prosecutor, Michael Grant said the virtual complainant left his broken down excavator to be repaired in the interior, and upon arrival of the mechanic, he met the two accused next to the excavator.

The Court heard that the mechanic saw the items mentioned in the charge at the back of a 4X4 vehicle. The duo then drove away. The matter was reported to the Police and the two were arrested. The men were represented by Attorney-at-Law Michael Somersall. The case was transferred to the Mahdia Court for April 14.
