Mason accused of robbing, beating man for three hours

DSC05156Twenty – five – year – old David Greene, a mason was today remanded to prison by Magistrate Judy Latchman after he pleaded not guilty to the offence of robbery underarms.

The allegation stated that on September 02 at Lamaha Gardens Georgetown, in the company of others, and armed with a gun; Greene attacked and robbed Darlon Jones of $230,000 cash.

After a request to speak with the Magistrate, the complainant told the court that on the day of the incident, the accused also called his mother who resides overseas and demanded cash. Jones said during the three hours of assault, he was severely beaten by Greene and his accomplice.

Based on the nature and penalty attached to such an offence and the fact that a gun was used in the execution of the crime, the prosecutor objected to bail. His request was granted by the Magistrate, who remanded to accused until September 20. [Royan Abrams]
