Police discovered 1100 grams of marijuana strapped to the man’s body

Marvin Daniels of Levi Dam Angoy’s Avenue New Amsterdam, Berbice, a 29-year-old unemployed male, was on Thursday afternoon arrested after Police officers discovered 1100 grams of marijuana strapped to his body after they stopped and searched passengers who were in a public minibus destined for Mahdia, Region Eight (Potaro-Siparuni).

The drugs were found strapped to Daniels’ body

The discovery was made around 17:45hrs when ranks on duty at the Mabura Police Outpost (Check Point) conducted searches on passengers of a route 72 minibus, bearing licence plates BTT 9966.

Officers conducted a search on Daniels after he was reportedly seen acting in a suspicious manner and discovered that he had four black plastic bags with leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis, strapped to both of his legs.

This publication was informed that Daniels admitted ownership of the drugs. The suspected cannabis was weighed in his presence and amounted to 1100 grams.

He was then placed into custody and is being processed for court. (Michael Younge)
