Man slapped with two counts of break & enter charge asks Magistrate to remand him

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Magistrate Judy Latchman on Thursday April 09, remanded a resident of Diamond Housing Scheme after he appeared in the Georgetown Magistrates Court slapped with two charges of breaking and entering.

Inshan Ali pleaded not guilty to both of the charges one of w

hich alleged that between April 4 and 5 at Croal Street, Georgetown, he broke and entered the business place of Rodlyn Austin and stole one gas stove, one gas bottle, and two coolers along with other items together valued $482,000.

The other charge alleged that between April 2 and 3 at Croal Street, he broke and entered the business place of Forbes Christian and stole one generator and two tool kits, together valued $85,000.

The unrepresented man told the court, “I went to jail before for fighting” and he denied the offence the asked Magistrate Latchman to remand him to prison.

He is scheduled to reappear before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on April 15.
