Man remanded to prison for allegedly chopping nephew

Edmond Bellarmine, 30 years of Micorbie Village Potaro River made his first court appearance before Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry and pleaded not guilty to the offense of unlawful wounding.

According to the allegations on July 25 at Micorbie Village Potaro River, Bellarmine wounded his nephew Clive Bellarmine. Police prosecutor Bharrat Mangru disclosed that on the day of the incident, the man and his nephew were consuming alcohol when an argument ensued over a loaf of bread.

According to the prosecutor, Edmond Bellarmine then left and went to the home of the victim and dealt him a chop on his leg. Based on the information presented in court, Edmond Bellarmine was remanded to prison and will make his next court appearance on October 16 at the Mahdia Magistrate’s Court. [Royan Abrams]
