Andel Anthony[www.inewsguyana.com] – Thirty – five – year old Andel Anthony Forde of North West District appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore charged with robbery underarms. Forde was not required to plead to the charge. According to the allegation, on September 16 at Sheriff Street Georgetown, he was armed with a gun and robbed Nerissa Hinckson and Stacey Benn of one Blackberry Torch cellular phone, valued $100,000 and $21,000 cash.

Police prosecutor Ramsayhoye Rambajue told the court that Forde and an accomplice went into Kamboat Restaurant where one of the men pulled out a gun and ordered that the customers hand over their valuables.

According to the prosecutor, the accused tried to escape but was apprehended by public spirited citizens who gave chase after the robbery. Based on the prevalence of the offence and taken into consideration the fact that a gun was used in the execution of the crime, the prosecutor objected to bail. Bail was refused and the accused will return to court on October 03. [Royan Abrams]
