Man remanded for illegal possession of gun, ammo

[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 35-year-old man of Lot 491 Grove Housing Scheme, East Bank Demerara was refused bail by Magistrate Fabayo Azore for unlawful possession of firearm and ammunition.

Aldren Adonis pleaded not guilty to both charges, one of which alleged that on Monday, April 06 at Campbellville Housing Scheme, Georgetown he had in his possession one 9 mm pistol, when he was not the holder of a firearm license.

The other charge alleged that on the same day at Campbellville Housing Scheme, he also had in his possession 5 live rounds of matching ammunition.

Police Prosecutor Simone Payne told the Court that on the day in question police were on patrol when they saw the defendant with a gun in his hand. The ranks gave chase and apprehended Adonis with the weapon.

He will make his next court appearance before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on April 13.
