[www.inewsguyana.com] – A man accused of stealing money from his grandfather was refused bail by Magistrate Annette Singh at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

James McDonald pleaded not guilty to the offence, which alleged that between January 09 and 10, at Lime and Bent Street, Georgetown; he stole cash $75,000 from Eric Abbensetts.

The unrepresented man told the Court that he did not steal that much money. The Court heard that the accused went to the victim’s house, who left him inside and went to bed.

When Abbensetts woke up, he made checks for McDonald but could not find him; further checks revealed that the cash was missing.

The prosecution successfully opposed bail on the grounds that the defendant is unemployed and has no fixed place of abode. He was remanded to prison and the matter will be called again on March 17.
