Man mysteriously shot on Breda St, rushed to GPHC in unconscious state

An unidentified man is presently critical at the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) after being shot during the wee hours of Thursday morning while in the vicinity of Breda Street, Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown.

According to information received, an eyewitness at the scene reported that at about 00:50hrs today, he heard the sound of two loud explosions, suspected to be gunshots, and as such, went to the location to investigate.

It was there that a large crowd had gathered around the alleged victim, who was lying on the ground, clutching his abdomen area and visibly in pain.

The eyewitness said that he then ran unto Hadfield Street, where he managed to summon a taxi, and with the help of other public spirited persons, placed the injured man into the vehicle.

Upon arrival at the GPHC, the unidentified man had fallen unconscious and was immediately taken into surgery.

Police have since confirmed the shooting and have outlined that an investigation has been launched.
