Man found with ammunition remanded to prison

[www.inewsguyana.com]Twenty – Seven – year old Anthony Fernandes of Grand Sand Road, East Bank Demerara was placed before the court for possession of ammunition.

Fernandes pleaded guilty to the charge but a not guilty plea was entered by Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry. It is alleged that on October 29 at Moblissa, Linden he had three live rounds of ammunition on his possession.

Police prosecutor Bharrat Mangru told the court that acting on information received, ranks from the Guyana Police Force went to a farm located at Moblissa and the defendant was contacted after which a search was conducted in his presence and three 12 gauge ammunition were found in his hammock.

The Magistrate accused was remanded to prison with his next court appearance set November 05 at the Christianburg Magistrate’s Court. [Royan Abrams]
