[www.inewsguyana.com] – Ryan Bobb Semple was on April 10, remanded to prison by Magistrate Judy Latchman for the gruesome murder committed on nine-year-old Shaquan Gittens of South Ruimveldt, Georgetown.
The accused was not required to plead to the indictable charge which read that between April 01 and 04 at Houston Backlands, East Bank Demerara, he murdered Gittens.
Semple appeared in Court bare feet and sat quietly with his head leaned forward, before the charge was read to him. The hearing was brief and the courtroom calm.
Magistrate Latchman asked Semple, if he had anything he wished to say or make any complaints after the charge was read to him, Semple responded “no” in a shivering tone.
Relatives of the accused or deceased were not present in court.
The unrepresented man will make his next Court appearance before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, on April 17.
According to reports, the suspect told investigators that he grabbed the child on April 01, took him aback of Cane View Avenue, South Ruimveldt and sodomized him.
While doing so, he reportedly choked the lad until he passed out. After committing the act, he reportedly slept with Gittens under a tree but realized the following morning, that boy had died. He then severed the child’s private part, before having sex with his corpse.
He subsequently walked from South Ruimveldt to Houston and dumped the child’s body.
The 9 year-old was laid to rest on Friday April 10.
