A resident of Matthews Ridge, North West District, is expected to make his first court appearance today to answer to a narcotic possession charge.
According to information, police ranks, acting on information, went into the community where they arrested a man with 453 grams of cannabis. The arrest was made on Sunday at about 15:00h.
Meanwhile, during an operation also on Sunday at Arukamai Backdam, Mabaruma, North West District, the Police Narcotics Branch destroyed a quarter of an acre with about 300 marijuana plants ranging from 1 foot to 6 feet in height.
The police also destroyed a camp suspected to be used by the planters. No one was arrested as police continue their investigations.
