Stephon Harry of 417 North East La Penitence Georgetown made his first court appearance before Magistrate Fabayo Azore today, charged with possession of narcotics for the purpose of trafficking.
It is alleged that on June 26 at North East La Penitence Georgetown, the 35 – year – old man had 250 grams of cannabis in his possession for the purpose of trafficking.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the offence. The court was told that on the day in question at about 5:00h, ranks from the Guyana Police Force Narcotics Branch, acting on information conducted a search on Harry’s home where 250 grams of cannabis were found.
The police prosecutor objected to bail based on the nature of the offence and the likelihood that the accused may not return to court for trial. However, the magistrate overruled his objection and the accused was placed on $250,000 bail with his next court date set for July 10. [Royan Abrams]
