[www.inewsguyana]Travis Porter of West Ruimveldt Georgetown was placed before the court for attempting to murder his cousin. Porter was not required to plead to the indictable charge before Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry.

It is alleged that on September 23, he attempted to murder Shamar Porter. According to police prosecutor Bharrat Mangru; the complainant had borrowed a phone from the accused and after he failed to return it, a fight ensued between the two.

The prosecutor said the accused became annoyed and dealt the complainant several chops about his body.  Given the fact that the accused and complainant are known to each other, the prosecutor objected to bail.

Porter was remanded to prison and is scheduled to make his next court appearance on October 18. [Royan Abrams]
