Magnitude 7.3 earthquake recorded in Venezuela, tremors felt in Guyana

A Magnitude 7.3 earthquake 20km NNW of Yaguaraparo, Venezuela has resulted in tremors being felt in Guyana, as well as in neighbouring countries such as Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados and Grenada.

Around 05:30h on Tuesday, score of persons were seen congregating on the streets of Georgetown, while business entities also saw employees being temporarily evacuated as the frequency of the tremors increased.

The tremors have since subdued.
