Lusignan man dies after being found on roadway

Police are investigating the death of Narine Singh Mei, 54, of Latchman Singh scheme, Lusignan, East Coast Demerara (ECD).

He was found, conscious, on the roadway at first street Lusignan, ECD and was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) on Friday. He passed away on Saturday.

This publication was informed that the dead man’s sister Rohini Bani Mei, 59, received a phone call from a female who reportedly related that her brother was sleeping on the roadway in first Street Lusignan.

As such, Rohini sent her nephew to investigate the woman’s claims. The nephew reportedly found Mei in a conscious state with “bruises on his forehead and a small wound on his left hand.”

Following his discovery he was taken to the GPHC where he subsequently passed.

Information reaching Inews suggests that the man may have been intoxicated.

Investigations are currently ongoing.
