Shafrona Yusuf during her court appearance. [iNews’ Photo][www.inewsguyana.com] – A couple appeared before Magistrate Judy Latchman for assaulting each other. Thirty – six – year old Shafrona Yusuf and 31 – year – old Brandon Williams, both of High Street Georgetown pleaded guilty to the charge.
According to the prosecution’s case, on October 28, at about 22:30 hours the woman came home from work and told her boyfriend that she made a call to a female whose number was registered to his phone and he in return told her that it was a friend.
An argument ensued between the two and they started pushing each other during which the woman took a mirror and lashed the man about his body. The court also heard that the woman also took a PVC pipe and dealt him several lashes.

Since both parties are willing to end the matter, the Magistrate ordered that they seek counseling and fined the couple $20,000 each or an alternative of six months in jail. [Royan Abrams]
