An unremorseful, 52-year-old Gingesh Khan also called ‘Links’ was earlier today handed a 29-year sentence after he was found guilty on four counts of rape related charges prior to today’s court sentencing.

The accused had initially denied the indictments which is said to have occurred between August 1 and 31, 2008 at Vergenoegen, East Bank Essequibo. He was charged for three counts of indecent assault and one count of carnal knowledge of a child under the age of 15-years.

A probation report revealed that the accused has been unemployed prior to being incarcerated and is an alcoholic. Persons in the community described the accused as being known for engaging in sexual acts with livestock and more so, he is not a positive influence in the community.

Some of these descriptions were refuted by the accused. However, Defense Attorney Ravindra Mohabir stated that client was charged for bestiality but the charge was later dismissed.

Justice Brassington Reynolds after listening to the emotional impact statement of the victim, in handing down his sentenced described the accused as a “sick man”.

Justice Reynolds told Khan to benefit from the appropriate treatment as he was sentenced to 29-year in prison.
