Linden trio charged for grand theft auto

[www.inewsguyana.com] – Three Lindeners charged with stealing a minibus and a car were today placed on $300,000 bail each, by Magistrate Fabayo Azore.

Mason Preston Skeete, 19, of Amelia’s Ward, Harold Rogers of Lot 1103 Central Amelia’s Ward, and labourer Shawn Wilson, 20, of Central Amelia’s Ward, were not required to plead to the charges.

It is alleged that between March 1 and 2 at Wisroc, Wismar Linden; they stole one minibus valued over $3.5 M, property of the Linden Mayor and Town Council.

Particulars of the other charge stated between April 2 and 3 at Amelia’s Ward, Linden, they stole one silver grey 212 motor car PPP 2664 valued over 1.8 M property of Renson Rawlins.

The three men were represented by attorney-at-law Konyo Thompson- Sandiford, who told the court that she is aware of her clients being charged in relation to the motor car, but is surprised to hear about the additional charge related to the minibus.

Defence counsel said that the car was borrowed from a car rental service and on that day Rogers was the driver while the other two accused were passengers.

Police Prosecutor Simone Payne told the court that a confession statement was obtained from Skeete. The prosecutor did not object to bail, but asked it be granted in a substantial amount.

Each accused was ordered to post $150,000 bail on each charge and the matter was transferred to the Linden Magistrate Court, for April 14.
