Leguan man slits wife’s throat, gone into hiding

[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 29 – year – old man of Leguan along the Essequibo River, in the wee hours of Tuesday morning (December 24) murdered his wife by slitting her throat.

The man who has been identified as Yuvinera Jagdia is said to have taken off soon after committing the act. According to neighbors he left with a rope and is believed to have gone with the intention of committing suicide.

When contacted, Jagdia’s mother Phulmattie Jagdia said, she received a call at about 03:00hrs from a neighbor who informed her about the tragedy. She identified the dead woman as Sunita aka ‘Dolly’. She told iNews that she has not spoken to her son since receiving the message and has no idea where he could be. In fact the older Jagdia said she did not see or hear from her son in a for over a year.

She is unaware of any reason why her son would murder his wife but did indicate that according to reports from persons in the area, the couple frequently abused each other verbally and physically.

Jagdia said her son had been married to Sunita for almost seven years. The couple has three children together.
