Labourer accused of stealing Samsung Galaxy Phone granted bail

[www.inewsguyana.com] – A 30 – Year – old labourer of West Ruimveldt Housing Scheme, Georgetown, accused of stealing a cellular phone was placed on $75,000 bail on Monday, April 28 by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry.

Dwayne Hawker pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that on April 15 at Stabroek Area, he stole one Samsung Galaxy S3 cellular phone valued $70,000, property of Steven Williams.

Hawker told the Court that he is presently employed at a Chinese store located on Regent and Light Streets.

Police Prosecutor, Michael Grant did not object to bail. The accused was unrepresented and will make his next Court appearance on May 23 for filing of statements.
