Kitty Roundabout officially open to traffic

Guyana’s First Roundabout at Vlissengen Road, Carifesta Avenue and Rupert Craig Highway is now officially open to traffic; and a simple ceremony, which saw the attendance of senior Government Ministers and officials of the Public Infrastructure Ministry, was held this morning in this regard.

The design of the Roundabout includes two traffic signals which will control the traffic from Irving Street and Kitty Public Road.

Earlier in the year, a $78.9Million contract was awarded to S. Jagmohan Hardware Supplies and Construction Services for works on the roundabout.

Now that the roundabout is officially open, it is expected that the flow of traffic in the area will  significantly improve; enabling drivers to reach their destinations effortlessly and reduce the number of vehicles travelling on East Coast of Demerara, Carifesta Avenue or in the vicinity of Kitty.
