The girl, whose father is currently on trial for a 2005 kidnapping and murder, made the report in the presence of her attorney, Alexia Romero, after the information became known to officers on Friday while she was being interviewed by detectives at the Couva Police Station.

According to the TT Express, her mother, her 23-year-old brother and his 23-year-old girlfriend had been in police custody since last week in connection with the kidnapping.

However, they were released on Tuesday morning, just hours after their attorney, Criston J Williams, filed for a writ of habeas corpus which was to be heard at the Hall of Justice in Port of Spain yesterday, but which did not materialise as they were released.
