[www.inewsguyana.com] – A Jamaican team, slated to contest a goodwill boxing tournament will arrive in Guyana on February 13 for the tournament which begins the following day.
The team, which will take part in the Cliff Anderson Sports Hall billed tournament includes Head Coach Carl Grant, Coach Godfrey Collins, lightweight Patrick Sahadeo, light welterweight Anthony Clarke, welterweight Kestna Davis and middleweight Michael Gardner.
The reggae island is the only country that has acknowledged the invitation thus far with Trinidad and Tobago and St Lucia yet to confirm their participation.
The Guyana Boxing Association organized tournament will see the blessing and aid of the Guyana Olympic Association. An Invitation was extended to Barbados, which declined on account of a clash with their domestic tournament schedule.
The event is expected to be a warm up for boxers, who would be competing at the South American championship, which is slated for March in Chile.
