The fourteen persons, who were arrested yesterday at Ituni in relation to the blocking of the roadway, were today Wednesday September 04, 2013, charged with willful obstruction of the public way.

According to the police, the protesters appeared before Magistrate Clive Nurse at the Christianburg Magistrate’s Court where one of the men pleaded ‘guilty’ and was fined $10,000. The others have been placed on $5,000.00 bail each to return to court on October 02, 2013.

Road users have been protesting the state of the road since Friday last. As a result of their protest, the Ministry of Education had to charter a plane over the weekend to send food to the Kwakwani Dormitory.
