[www.inewsguyana.com] – Minister of Natural Resources and the Environment Robert Persaud has pleaded with colleague parliamentarians to be inspiration for unity in the advancement of national development.

Persaud during his presentation on Budget 2014, expressed the view that the time is now opportune for this kind of inspiration to be realized.

“The 10th Parliament could be best described as a troika of bitterness…but it is not too late; it can now be transformed into a troika of togetherness.”

He has urged fellow parliamentarians against a conspiracy that is anti-development in nature; pointing to the celebration of Lent a Christian observation and Navratri that of Hinduism which are occurring simultaneously as auspicious.

Meanwhile, the Natural Resources Minister has described budget 2014 as responsive and relevant to the unique challenges facing Guyana; noting that it reflects equity for every Guyanese in every corner of the country.

He believes that its presentation gives politicians another opportunity to take full advantage of the policies and measures outlined therein and to convert the challenges into opportunities.

Persaud also dismissed claims that the budget lacks vision and is void of new jobs by pointing to the many investments in mining alone such as the Guyana Goldfields and another by an Australian company that will employ hundreds of Guyanese in the short and long terms.
