A 19-year-old was killed on Sunday evening while his friend is now fighting for his life at the New Amsterdam Public Hospital after they fell victims to a hit and run accident on the Number 55 Village public road in Corentyne.

Dead is Tristan Sohai of Number 57 Village, Corentyne, while 28-year-old Muneshwar Jairam of the same village, remains critical.

Based on information received, it was about 20:30hrs, when the two victims were in the process of crossing the public road, that they were slammed to the pavement by a reportedly speeding hire car.
